Duncan's Onami® Crystal (textured starfire glass) is ideal for custom counter installations, table tops, tempered shower enclosures and door inserts. By "edge lighting" a counter the luminescent quality of the faceted Onami Crystal texture is enhanced. Whether lighted artificially or by ambient or natural light, the Onami  texture adds the style and brilliance of rough cut crystal or in some light  the look of the surface of a wind swept mountain lake.
 

low iron optically clear glass

Starfire glass is called a "low iron" or optically clear glass. Generally in glass it's the iron content of the silica that gives it the green tint but by reducing the iron content and chemically masking the remainder Starfire glass appears to be optically clear.
Unlike "normal" glass, which, as the thickness increases the green tint of the glass deepens until at ¾" thick it is almost emerald green, but with Starfire glass as the thickness increases it remains optically clear. No discernible color "tint" to filter transmitted light.

For instance if a normal green tinted heavy glass shower enclosure is incorporated into a bath environment the colors of the tile and other design elements will be altered by the heavy green tint of the glass. This will effect the entire visual impact of the area unless the color of the glass and it's filtering effect has been taken into consideration during the design process.

However if the enclosure is made from either clear Starfire or Onami® Crystal (textured Starfire glass) the colors will remain true to the original design concept.
